Muriel Barbery, The Elegance of the Hedgehog

Muriel Barbery, The Elegance of the Hedgehog. So I did throw this one across the room when I finished it. It was so fucking French. Did you read The Little Prince for French class? Anyway, parts of it I liked. I genuinely liked the protagonists. But the tone struck me as false. As pretentious. As exactly what Renée would have hated. Plus, I'm sentimental. And O. Henry plot twists drive me insane.

All I can say, Gwen, is that I did not read this one and bought it for you when you said that you wanted new books by authors you hadn't heard of...it was recommended though, highly, by Kathy M. But I might have liked it, because I do like O'Henry....if it isn't destroyed, I know how hard you throw...let me try it. M

Oh mom, it was actually pretty good. I'm prone to fits of literary rage. It held up well to throwing, I'll pass it along to you.
